Margaret Anne Thompson, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on May 28, 2026, at the age of 83.

Born on June 12, 1942, in Portland, Maine, Margaret lived a life defined by kindness, generosity, and unwavering devotion to her family. She graduated from Portland High School and later married the love of her life, Robert Thompson, with whom she shared 58 wonderful years of marriage.

Margaret dedicated much of her life to raising her family and serving her community. She was known for her warm smile, welcoming home, and remarkable ability to make everyone feel valued. Whether she was tending her garden, preparing family meals, volunteering at her church, or cheering on her grandchildren at their activities, Margaret brought joy and compassion to all who knew her.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Thompson; her children, Susan Carter (David) and Michael Thompson (Jennifer); her grandchildren, Emily, Jacob, Olivia, and Ethan; her sister, Eleanor Brooks; and numerous nieces, nephews, and dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William and Helen Anderson, and her brother, James Anderson.

Margaret’s family will remember her for her gentle spirit, steadfast faith, and the countless ways she demonstrated love throughout her life. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished and the many lives she touched.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately afterward at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to a local food pantry or charity of your choice in Margaret’s memory.

Though deeply missed, Margaret will be forever remembered with love, gratitude, and admiration by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
